THE PERFUME MAGAZINE LOGO & BANNER

Perfume Magazine Brand Consultant: Tim Girvin

Our logo was created by GIRVIN | Strategic Branding, based in Seattle, NYC, and Tokyo. This is a specially built font that their design team created exclusively for Perfume Magazine. It is a custom cutting, redrawn and founded on a type design originated in 1798 by Giambattista Bodoni, drawn from the archives of Firmin Didot, an exemplar of luxurious design principles for hundreds of years. GIRVIN's team built the "fume" trail, as well as composited the arrangement of the bottles as part of the branding strategy.

The Perfume Magazine Banner was designed exclusively by GIRVIN and is the property of The Perfume Magazine, LLC.

We asked some of our new friends at Esxence-The Scent of Excellence, how they fared at the recent sold out event in Milan Italy. Join us for a quick peek inside Esxence and some of the perfume companies that were represented in Milan Italy.  We spoke with Julian Sprecher, President of French Perfume House, Parfums de Marley.

Tell us about your fragrances –what makes you an artistic niche or luxury brand?

We are trying to get very innovative new and elegant accord, also we are not compromising on the quality of the raw material investing a lot in the fragrances and working with very well known ‘Nose’ Olivier Pecheux, Nathalie Lorson. We want to surprise our client and make them feel being different using Marly.

What has the experience at the Esxence event in Milan meant to you and your company?

A lot! We have had tremendous number of contact whom has been very much excited and motivated by the brand, and whom wishe to start the collaboration with us.

If this was your first visit to Esxence, was it successful and did you attract the type of clients you had hoped for?

Yes it was the first visit, as said it was very successful, and we were very happy about the excitement around the brand and everybody’s positive comments.

If you are a seasoned vendor at Esxence, what did you find different this time, other than the fact it was sold-out?

For us it was the first time we were very happy about the show, it’s organization, location, and the quality of the traffic. All the major Niche brand were represented in a fair and similar way, which is very appreciable for all brand, and let the visitor and the client making their choice only on the brand DNA and quality and not on investments.

I understand Parfums de Marly introduced a new feminine fragrance called Orange Blossom Vanilla?  Please tell us about it.

The name is Safanad an Orange-Blossom-vanilla fragrance, it is the first of our exclusive feminine fragrance lines, we are also launching at the same time Meliora a Blackberry-Jasmine-Rose accord, very sensual as well. We have not compromised on any element of the feminine line as usual with Marly, it is very elegant and refined a piece of art!

I personally found it very exciting to see so many highly artistic niche perfumery brands that have emerged out of Europe and the global market.  How does it feel to be a part of this venture?

It very exciting but competition is also tough! You always have to question yourself on a daily basis, to reinvent yourself, find new fragrances and be always more and more luxury.

I also found the attendees to be very passionate about fragrance at the event. Was it everything you expected it to be?

It was actually very surprising to me how people are aware about fragrances and their level of knowledge, you clearly cannot fool them, they know what is good and what is not, and the brand which are investing in fragrances. They are as you mentioned passionate about perfumes real aficionados!

What were your favorite parts of the four-day event?

The first day for us when we discovered for the first time the show, we couldn’t  wait to discover it.

Where are your products sold for our European readers and any hopes of being able to purchasing them in America?

In Europe we are in Germany France, Russia, soon in UK and in other countries like Hungary Albania Turkey etc…For America as mentioned we are in discussion with a Distributor and have a target for the end of the year to be distributed in Nordstrom and Saks, we are eager to be sold in America we strongly believe that this brand is made to match American people taste, and that we are going to answer to their expectations. Indeed the History related brand linked with the Horses plus very elegant and refined fragrance will definitely find its Audience in USA.
